BlueDragon for the Microsoft .NET Framework - Now Available

Offers Native High-Performance Deployment of CFML within the Microsoft .NET Framework.

Alpharetta, GA - March 23, 2005 - New Atlanta Communications, a leading producer of advanced server-side technologies, is pleased to announce BlueDragon 6.2 for the Microsoft .NET Framework, the newest version of its BlueDragon product family for deploying ColdFusion® Markup Language (CFML) web applications, is now available for download and production use. CFML deployment options now range from BlueDragon Server, a standalone CFML application server, to any Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE™) and Microsoft .NET application server.

This landmark release showcases native integration and deployment of CFML on the Microsoft .NET platform - offering native high-performance integration with ASP.NET, ADO.NET, C# and Visual Basic.NET.

Technical Product Details

BlueDragon for the Microsoft .NET Framework enables the deployment of CFML applications on servers running the .NET framework. Servers include Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 2003.

Typical web applications on .NET are built with ASP.NET and other components of the Microsoft .NET Framework. BlueDragon makes it possible for the .NET framework to also process CFML applications natively - and enables bi-directional integration of CFML with ASP.NET, as well as other native .NET components.

Deployable as a .NET Framework assembly residing in the .NET Global Assembly Cache (GAC), BlueDragon is implemented as an HttpHandler. CFML pages are automatically processed from within any IIS directory or virtual directory (ASP.NET web application).

BlueDragon leverages the underlying ASP.NET mechanisms for storing Application, Request, and Session variables - which are automatically mapped by BlueDragon to .NET objects. These variables can then be shared by ASP.NET pages written in any supported language like C#, VB.NET, ...

BlueDragon uses ADO.NET as the data access mechanism. Supported ADO.NET data providers include Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and ODBC (as delivered by Microsoft as part of .NET Framework 1.1), among others.

With BlueDragon, you can leverage your existing CFML investment while enhancing your code base to take advantage of native .NET features in ASP.NET pages. BlueDragon enhances the CFOBJECT tag to allowing native invocation of .NET objects written in any supported programming language (C#, VB.NET, etc.). CFX tags can also be written in any .NET programming language. From within ASP.NET pages, BlueDragon enables the invocation of CFCs and custom tags - as well as the ability to inline CFML code and include CFML pages.
