BlueDragon for the Microsoft .NET Framework Certified for Windows Server 2008
Los Angeles, CA - February 27, 2008 - New Atlanta, a Microsoft Gold Certified partner, announced today at the Microsoft 2008 Launch Wave event in Los Angeles that BlueDragon, its ColdFusion®-compatible runtime for ASP.NET, earned Windows Server 2008 software certification.
BlueDragon now takes full advantage of the Windows Server 2008 integration of IIS 7.0, creating a solution that's even easier for customers to configure and manage. BlueDragon enables companies to retire existing ColdFusion servers and easily redeploy existing ColdFusion applications to ASP.NET without rewriting a single line of code. MySpace.com recently moved thousands of ColdFusion pages to ASP.NET with BlueDragon, helping to scale their user base to more than 200 million.
"Microsoft is excited to see that New Atlanta is already leveraging Windows Server 2008 features to enable even greater functionality for BlueDragon users," said Tony de Freitas, director at Microsoft. "Achieving this certification secures New Atlanta's place as a leading innovator in the new technology."
"We're very excited about the many new features-such as the new modular architecture, integrated request pipeline, enhanced configuration and administration, and performance enhancements-introduced by IIS 7.0 and Windows Server 2008," said Vince Bonfanti, President of New Atlanta. "By achieving Windows Server 2008 certification, BlueDragon customers are assured of enjoying the highest levels of compatibility and maximum benefit of these new features."
Windows Server 2008 software certification consists of approximately 100 test cases that independently confirm an application's compliance with best practices for compatibility, security, reliability, and availability on the new platform, while ensuring the software performs in a 64-bit environment. The certification identifies top-performing technologies that are ready to deploy in mission-critical environments. As a participant in the Microsoft Early Access Program (EAP) for Windows Server 2008 Software Certification, BlueDragon is one of more than 300 applications that are eligible for certification on a pre-release version of the new platform.
BlueDragon is implemented as an IHttpHandler that extends the ASP.NET runtime to support ColdFusion Markup Language (CFML), in addition to .NET languages such as C# and Visual Basic.NET. BlueDragon allows web pages written in CFML to be fully integrated into ASP.NET web applications. BlueDragon provides a superior platform for deploying ColdFusion-based web applications on IIS 7.0 and Windows Server 2008, and can be used to migrate existing ColdFusion applications to ASP.NET.
