ServletExec 2.1 and ServletExec Debugger 2.1 Announced
Enhanced Performance, JSDK 2.1 support, Servlet Debugging within Popular Java IDEs
Alpharetta, Georgia - May 4, 1999 - New Atlanta Communications, LLC is pleased to announce ServletExecTM> 2.1, a free upgrade to its award-winning servlet- and JavaServer Pages (JSP) engine, and the ServletExec Debugger 2.1, a free tool for developing and debugging servlets within popular Java IDEs such as Symantec VisualCafé, Borland JBuilder, IBM Visual Age for Java, Metrowerks Codewarrior, and others.
ServletExec 2.1
ServletExec 2.1, which supports servlets and JavaServer Pages on Microsoft IIS, Netscape Enterprise, the Apache server, and Mac OS web servers, includes the following enhancements over ServletExec 2.0:
- Implementation of version 2.1.1 of the Java Servlet Development Kit (JSDK).
- Significantly improved performance due to a revamped internal security and threading model. Already the fastest servlet engine available, ServletExec 2.1 is up to twice as fast as previous versions.
- support for Sun's Java HotSpot Performance Engine.
- support for the IBM Developer Kit for Windows, Java Technology Edition, Version 1.1.7.
- Numerous minor bug fixes and feature enhancements.
ServletExec 2.1 continues to be the servlet engine market leader in features, robustness, performance, and value.
ServletExec Debugger 2.1
The ServletExec Debugger 2.1 is a basic web server written in Java that has the full ServletExec servlet/JSP engine built-in. The ServletExec Debugger allows servlets to be developed and debugged in an environment that very closely simulates the ServletExec deployment environment. The ServletExec Debugger integrates with the following popular Java development environments:
- Symantec VisualCafé 2.5 & 3.0 (Windows)
- Borland JBuilder 2 & 3 (Windows)
- Metrowerks CodeWarrior Pro (Windows, MacOS, Solaris, Linux)
- IBM Visual Age for Java 2 (Windows, AIX)
- Sybase PowerJ 2.5 (Windows)
- Microsoft Visual J++ 6.0 (Windows)
Servlets developed with the ServletExec Debugger can be put into production by simply copying the servlet class file(s) and ServletExec configuration files to a deployment server.
