ServletExec 4.0 Released

First Commercial Support of Java ServletTM API 2.3 and JavaServerTM Pages 1.2 Specifications

Alpharetta, Georgia - July 17, 2001 - New Atlanta Communications, LLC announced today the immediate availability of ServletExecTM 4.0, the newest release of it's award-winning Java ServletTM and JavaServer PagesTM (JSP) engine.

ServletExec is an easy-to-use Java Servlet/JSP engine for developing, testing and deploying web-based applications, allowing companies to leverage existing IT infrastructure to provide dynamic, real-time access to corporate data by customers, employees, partners and suppliers through server-side functionality and seamless integration with backend systems.

"Since ServletExec was first released in 1997, our focus has been to offer the most robust, reliable and easy-to-use Servlet engine available for deploying dynamic web-based applications. ServletExec 4.0 is an extension of this ongoing commitment to quality and usability," said Vince Bonfanti, President of New Atlanta Communications.

Historically, ServletExec has been in the forefront for releasing the latest and most complete implementation of the Java Servlet API and JSP specifications. The only commercial product to feature Servlet API 2.3 and JSP 1.2, ServletExec 4.0 also includes the ability to configure JDBC 2.0 DataSources, web application security, resource monitoring, general performance enhancements and a straightforward installation and configuration process. ServletExec also is the only commercial Servlet/JSP engine that offers the choice between the high-performance and ease-of-use of an in-process servlet/JSP engine configuration or the architectural flexibility of an out-of-process application server configuration.

As with previous versions, ServletExec 4.0 runs on all major web servers, including Microsoft IIS, Netscape/iPlanet, and Apache, and is supported on Windows NT/2000, SPARC Solaris, Linux and AIX.

When asked for compelling reasons to choose ServletExec, Bonfanti responded, "ServletExec's performance and ease-of-use as well as the level of support we offer-is unmatched by any other web application server in its class. Because of this, time spent deploying and maintaining web applications is kept at a minimum, resulting in lower overall cost of ownership. Since our ServletExec Debugger is free, potential clients get the benefit of getting their applications up and running, risk-free."

Available free of charge, the ServletExec Debugger is a basic Java web server with the full ServletExec servlet/JSP engine built-in. The ServletExec Debugger allows servlets to be developed and debugged in an environment that very closely simulates the ServletExec deployment environment and integrates with the following popular Java development environments:

  • Borland JBuilder 3, 3.5 & 4.0 Foundation (Windows)
  • Metrowerks CodeWarrior Pro 5 & 6 (Windows)
  • IBM Visual Age 3.5 for Java 2 (Windows, AIX)
  • WebGain VisualCafé 3.0, 4.0 & 4.1 Standard (Windows)
  • Sun Forte 2.0 Community Edition (Windows)

Servlets and JSPs developed with the ServletExec Debugger can be put into production by simply copying the servlet class file(s) and ServletExec configuration files to a deployment server.

Bonfanti points out, "Thousands of companies worldwide actively use ServletExec to implement their e-Business applications. That speaks volumes."
