BlueDragon Powers The #1 CFML Website!
MySpace chooses BlueDragon to run CFML applications as native .NET web applications.
Alpharetta, GA - June 28, 2005 - New Atlanta Communications, a leading developer of advanced server-side technologies, today announced that MySpace, Inc. has chosen its BlueDragon product to help manage the unprecedented growth of the popular social networking website MySpace.com. Millions of people worldwide use MySpace.com to create, customize and publish their own content - sharing photos, journals and interests within a dynamic and growing network of mutual friends.
MySpace.com received over 15.5 million unique visitors and received more than 7.5 billion page views in the month of May, making it the fifth busiest web domain according to the May 2005 Media Metrix Report by comScore. MySpace surpassed Hotmail in May to take the number five spot on the ranking behind Yahoo, MSN, Ebay and AOL. Previously, MySpace had surpassed Google in traffic volume in the April 2005 report.
MySpace.com relies heavily on the ColdFusion® Markup Language (CFML) to dynamically deliver custom content to its users - allowing MySpace engineers to rapidly introduce new features to their users. BlueDragon for the Microsoft .NET Framework now allows MySpace to retire their existing Macromedia® ColdFusion servers and redeploy these CFML applications as native .NET web applications.
Performance, reliability and scalability drive decision to standardize on Microsoft .NET
"Like many organizations today, MySpace relies on the rich functionality and productivity gains achieved by using the CFML web scripting language, but they also wanted to fully leverage the Microsoft .NET platform to maximize performance, reliability, and scalability of their web applications," said Vince Bonfanti, President of New Atlanta. "BlueDragon for the Microsoft .NET Framework allows them to do both - all while protecting their sizable existing investments in CFML applications and skill sets."
MySpace standardized on the Microsoft .NET Framework in order to better handle the large volume of traffic due to the ever-increasing popularity of its website. MySpace.com has grown to nearly 20 million users, and is adding over 80,000 new users each day.
"MySpace is switching to BlueDragon.NET to improve the performance and reliability of our CFML applications," said Aber Whitcomb, Chief Technology Officer at MySpace. "We've seen more efficient use of CPU resources under heavy load as a result of switching to BlueDragon.NET, and the reliability of BlueDragon.NET has been rock-solid."
Whitcomb further added, "Our existing CFML applications run perfectly on .NET thanks to BlueDragon. We have thousands of CFML templates containing hundreds of thousands of lines of CFML code, and they all now run natively on .NET. Compatibility with our existing ColdFusion servers has been outstanding."

New Atlanta is also a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and recently received the Microsoft ISV/Software Solutions Competency.
